Pilots Program
The Pilots Program uses a mentoring platform with a curriculum provided for families to follow at home. Each week parents meet for 45 minutes to examine a topic on the Catholic faith, and to share the best practices for encouraging faith in their children at home.
Year One Pilots focus on basics of the faith that many Catholic adults didn't learn or may not have been taught as children. We study the Ten Commandments, the Seven Sacraments, and several saints who are great examples for families to know There is an emphasis on regular attendance at Mass, inculcating the family with a Catholic culture, and also an introduction to Theology of the Body. Because of the topics we will study in the following year, we work to develop a strength within the cohort so that the group can dig into the difficult topics of the following year.
Year Two Pilots build upon all topics that were introduced in Year One. We study bible history and examine the Mass from a "Why do we do what we do?" perspective. We study current moral topics, with the goal being that parents understand in depth the teachings of the church on these topics, as well as how to share with their children what the Church teaches in an age-appropriate manner. Moral topics include: Sex outside of marriage, Same sex marriage, Divorce, Contraception, and Abortion. Discussions of this magnitude are made possible by a group dynamic that has been built upon truth and trust over the preceding year
Year Three Pilots meet to continue understanding the Catholic faith. We also begin the study of Apologetics, which is the explanation and/or defense of the faith through reason and calm conversation.
