What is Altar & Rosary?
Altar & Rosary is a cherished organization that embraces all women of the Winterset Saint Joseph Parish. With a deep-rooted commitment to fostering community and nurturing faith, our mission is to support not only our parish and parishioners but also those in need beyond our immediate circle. We provide direct support and assistance to individuals and families who require help.
We prioritize building connections among members, encouraging spiritual growth, and promoting fellowship through events and volunteer opportunities. Together, we strive to create a compassionate atmosphere where every woman feels valued and empowered to contribute her unique gifts and talents. By uniting our efforts, we hope to embody the teachings of our faith while actively serving our community and uplifting those in need, bringing hope and love to all we encounter.
How do I join Altar & Rosary?
All women of the Parish are members of Altar & Rosary. There are various committees within the members that focus on specific areas. They are as follows:
Holiday Hop
Funeral Luncheons
Youth Outreach
Nursing Homes & Homebound Outreach
Welcome Committee
Social Committee
Flowers/Decorating
Altar Linens
How much of a time committment will it be?
Our members show up for the activities that interest them and generally love to lend a hand when needed. Some volunteer to lead or be a member of one of the committees that help our organization complete the many tasks and events that we sponsor. There is no formal time commitment. All help is welcomed whenever it is offered.
When and where does Altar & Rosary meet?
Altar & Rosary have general meetings quarterly. The date and times are published in the parish bulletin. One meeting is held at 1:30pm and another at 6:30pm to accommodate everyone's schedule. Occasionally the separate committees will have planning or organizing meeting.
How do we help our parish and community?
We support through volunteer activitied as well as financial support. Some examples are:
Funeral luncheons: Providing salads and desserts as well as serving the lunch.
Organizing and volunteering at parish events such as The Holiday Hop, Lenten and Advent events, Ladies Bunco Nights, etc.
Mailing cards to parishioners in care facilities.
Helping financially with the Parish Food Pantry.
Help with the flower arrangements and seasonal decorations of the sanctuary.
Organizing receptions and brunches for special parish celebrations.
Providing financial support as well as volunteer support as needed to parish youth programs.
